The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor (OWSDI) course is designed to teach current Divemasters or Assistant Instructors certified with a recognised dive training organisation the knowledge to effectively function as an open water scuba diver instructor.

SDI Instructor Crossover

Are you an Instructor from another dive agency and want to cross over to SDI/TDI?

  • It's easy to do and most of the the time done in the classroom only.
  • At no extra charge all your specialty and technical Instructor ratings will be crossed over as well.
  • If you are not currently an active Instructor you can still crossover but must provide proof that you are in good standing with your previous agency (i.e. PADI).
  • You might opt in to demonstrate a few skills.

Prerequisites: - Minimum age 18
- Certified diver for a minimum of 6 months.
- Provide proof of 100 logged dives completed in a number of different environments with varying depths.

- Be certified as a Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, of any agency
- Provide proof of current First Response Adult and Child Emergency Care Provider and Oxygen Administration Provider certification or equivalent.

- Must get "fit for diving" clearance from a doctor, prior starting the course.

Please Note:

  • The Instructor Candidate has 6 months from the completion of the IDC to attend an Instructor Examination Course.
  • Your training will start daily at the shop at 8:30AM and usually you will finish the day 3:00pm - 5:00pm.
  • Training is offered in English! Online training materials are available in a variety of languages.
  • For specialty Instructor Training, you must provide a reasonable amount of experience in the level you want to obtain.
  • If you wish to only take the Assistant Instructor Course, you will need 60 dives to start and won't need to join the Instructor Examination.

 

  • This course is the foundation of any Instructor Level in SDI and TDI, meaning even if you only want to teach Technical Diving you need to complete this course prior being able to teach any other Level in SDI/TDI system.

We believe every responsible diver should refrain from diving with caged whale sharks in Okinawa!

  • Whale sharks are an endangered species
