SDI Sidemount Diver Course

In the past Sidemount diving was a discipline only for tech and cave divers but even recreational divers now can benefit, as gear and training is becoming more widely available. As a Sidemount Diver you will benefit from more comfort avoiding backaches from carrying heavy scuba gear. You will be in control of your dives with your gear streamlined, your buoyancy control will improve. You will use less energy moving your gear and move more efficiently through the water. A redundant air supply also means peace of mind and less stress, longer dives and more Fun.

What you can expect to learn:

The SDI Sidemount Diver Course takes an in-depth look at all of the following and more:

  • Gas management utilizing independent cylinders

  • Equipment considerations such as

    • Cylinder options

    • Regulator and (BCD)/harness options

    • Proper weighting

    • S-Drills (specific to sidemount)

  • Problem solving

    • Gas-sharing/Gas hemorrhages

Day 1 - Confined Water
Day 2 - Two Ocean Dives
Day 3 - Two Ocean Dives (Optional)
Class Size: 1-4 Students per Instructor

Must be able to answer “No” to all questions on the SDI Medical Statement.

Minimum age is 15 with parental consent

Please Note:

  1. The course will typically start at 9:00AM at the dive shop and finish at approximately 4:30PM each day. Please plan accordingly.
  2. All students must be compfortable backmount divers already before starting the course. Experience of 20-30 dives is desirable.
  3. Training is offered in English, while online training materials are available in many languages, participants are required to communicate in English.
  4. Training is purchased, certification is earned, no refunds will be given if you cannot meet the training requirements.
  5. Don't fly within 18 hours of your last dive, please take this into consideration when scheduling your training.
